An entertaining mix of prose essays, ‘The consolation of neglected virgins’, ‘Symptoms of self-importance’, &c, and humorous, and sometimes risqué, verse. An uncommon title by the author now best remembered for his picaresque novel “The Spiritual Quixote”, a satire on John Wesley and Methodism in general.
