Description

(22), 248 pp. Full blue morocco with gilt borders to front & rear boards. Raised bands to spine with decorative gilt panels and lettering. Gilt turn-ins and marbled endpapers. Bound by Edmund Worrall of Birmingham. Early label to front pastedown with comments. Old library stamp to title page. In 1645 Wishart joined the Royalist army at Bathwell, and was appointed chaplain to Montrose, then Governor-General of Scotland. From this time he was constantly with the army, and his narrative of the campaign is that of an eye-witness. The above work has been translated into English and printed at different times, but in its original Latin is of rare occurrence.
