First edition. 4to. xxii, 264, (2) pp. Original patterned paper backed drab boards, printed title label to the upper cover stating this was a subscription copy priced at two guineas, inscribed on the half title "To Dr. Annesley / with the kindest regards / of the Author / Aug. 29. 1834". Frontispiece and 12 plates - 3 in colour, of which two are heightened in gold and one partially coloured, 10 of the plates designed by George Cruikshank, another plate of beetles by the entomologist and antiquarian J.O.
